I’ll be the first to admit, despite my beauty-editor status, I am consistently slacking in the world of hair care. For the longest time, I had no semblance of a hair-care routine, as I was convinced that doing anything more than washing and conditioning would make my hair flat and lifeless. That was, however, until I discovered that my “formless” hair was actually loosely wavy. But even with such a discovery, the products I can use without weighing my hair down are minimal.

With hair as sensitive and oil-prone as mine, I have to be especially particular with what leave-in products I’m using. When I noticed that my repeatedly dyed and heat-styled hair was lacking shine, I knew I’d have to experiment with some sort of treatment, so I immediately turned to one of my tried-and-true hair-car brands: Saints & Sinners.

Now, their Velvet Divine Leave-In Conditioner ($25) is the only hair styling product I use consistently, officially ending my anti-hair-care routine era.

What it is:

Referred to by the brand as “the best leave-in conditioner you’ll ever use” (and I agree), Saints & Sinners Velvet Divine Leave-In Conditioner is suitable for all hair types, and is truly a multitasker, as it simultaneously detangles, reduces frizz, protects colored strands, adds moisture to dehydrated hair follicles, all while adding shine and protecting the hair against both heat damage and environmental damage. I mean, what else could you ask for?

Formulated without harmful or sensitizing ingredients like parabens, phthalates, iron oxides, gluten, mineral oil or nut ingredients, this vegan and cruelty-free formula is safe for all hair types—even color-treated—so you can rest assured that each use will nourish strands without any of the bad stuff. Aside from the fact that just a few sprays of this leave-in conditioner leave my hair endlessly more manageable, shinier and more radiant, I also can’t get enough of the fragrance profile. With notes of ylang ylang, citrus, violet, fresh ginger and white musk, the scent is androgynous, luxurious and long-lasting—almost like a perfume for your hair.

How to Use:

After washing your hair, simply spray the leave-in treatment into damp hair from scalp to tips, brush to distribute evenly and style as usual. I use this product regardless of if I’m air drying or heat styling, as it always leaves my hair shinier and more glamorous than before.

The bottom line:

If you struggle with hair products and maintaining a hair-care routine that doesn’t leave your hair worse than you found it, Saints & Sinners Velvet Divine Leave-In Conditioner is a great way to give your hair some necessary TLC without weighing it down. From the clean formula to the divine (pun intended) scent, you’re sure to be hooked from your first spritz.
