Your Employer Might Soon Cover Skin Treatments—Here’s What to Know

Dermatology and aesthetic care may soon sit alongside your health benefits.

If you’ve ever wished your company offered skin-care benefits the way it does gym memberships, that reality just got a lot closer.

Aesthetic Record—the practice-management platform used by more than 9,000 aesthetic practices across the country—has acquired JOYA Health, the first corporate skin health benefit of its kind. The deal connects employer populations directly to a vetted network of dermatology and aesthetic providers, and the implications for patients are significant.

JOYA Health already works with brands like Equinox, SoulCycle and HydraFacial to bring skin health coverage to their workforces. The numbers back up the demand: JOYA converts roughly 15 percent of enrolled members into active patients, a figure that outperforms nearly every comparable voluntary benefit.

"JOYA Health has demonstrated that when access to skin health is simplified and employer-supported, engagement follows,” said Tiphany Hall, PhD, Chief Growth Officer, Aesthetic Record. "Bringing JOYA onto our platform lets us scale that model nationally and gives our providers a strategic way to access a broader patient base."

The logic is straightforward: When access and affordability are removed as barriers, people show up for their skin. Under Aesthetic Record’s infrastructure, JOYA can now expand that model nationally, routing motivated patients directly to qualified providers, while reducing costs through demand aggregation.

“This is a meaningful step toward truly connected care,” says Dr. Justin Harper, founder, Aesthetic Record. "JOYA bridges employers and providers in a way that hasn't existed at scale. We're thrilled to welcome Mike Jafar, JOYA's Founder and CEO, to our Board as we keep expanding access to quality skin health."

For the industry, it signals a long-overdue shift—away from fragmented, word-of-mouth patient acquisition and toward a data-driven ecosystem where employers, patients and providers are finally on the same platform. For the rest of us, it means the facial, the derm visit or the skin-check we’ve been putting off may soon be an item in our benefits package.
