Today, Victoria Beckham and cofounder of Victoria Beckham Beauty, Sarah Creal, were guests on Dear Media’s Breaking Beauty podcast, which touches on everything from how to give yourself a spa-worthy facial to the meaning behind the term “cruelty-free.” On this episode, hosts Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins interviewed Beckham on her own experience being bullied, her newest launch, her personal makeup tricks and her favorite workout. Scroll through for a recap of all the details.
Breaking down her earliest memory of beauty, Beckham says she’s loved skin care and makeup for longer than she can remember. “But, I would say one of my earliest moments was when I was on my way to school, too young to be wearing makeup, and my mother would say to me ‘you look a little bit peaky’ (I think that was the word). Then, she would take her lipstick out of her bag and dab a little bit on my cheeks to give me a little bit of blush.”
Fast forward to her time as Posh Spice, her beauty memories of that era still involve lipstick. “People always say, ‘Do you cringe at any of the pictures? Do you ever cringe at that heavy lip liner?’ No, it was a journey. ‘Do you cringe at those skinny eyebrows? No, it was a journey…We wore what made us feel good.”
The 47-year-old adds that this mentality was what The Spice Girls was all about. “When someone like Beyoncé, who is so iconic and such a strong woman, says that she was inspired by The Spice Girls, I think that’s quite something. With Victoria Beckham Beauty, it’s not about changing who you are, it’s about feeling inspired, feeling empowered, and feeling strong.”
Next, the duo gives listeners a sneak peak into their upcoming launch, a nude shade named Amore of her existing Bitten Lip Tint ($36). “What I love about the product is that it’s not going to smudge from the mask, it’s going to stay on while you have the mask on your face. I actually use a little bit on my cheeks and nose as well.” While her lip products are certainly a hit, Creal explains that the Satin Kajal eyeliner ($26) has taken off the most out of all of their products. “I think this struck a chord because it creates a full look and it’s also formulated to use on the waterline,” she adds.
While she’s obviously a sucker for her own line of products, Beckham admits that she has a few other brands lined up on her bathroom vanity. “We worked with Augustinus Bader to input his technology into our products, which we’re very proud of,” she says, adding that she’s a big fan of The Cream ($85) and The Body Cream ($165). She’s also a lover of the Face Halo Makeup Remover Pads ($22), which are not only reusable, but are able to swipe off makeup without any liquid remover.
But skin care hasn’t been the only thing helping her unwind in this wild world of ours—Beckham says daily workouts are another form of self-care that keeps her sane. “I do work out on the treadmill, but I’ve also been doing Tracy Anderson since I was pregnant with Harper 10 years ago. I’m obsessed with it because I love dancing and I can create my own playlist—it’s just fun. After hours and hours of Zoom, you need a release.”
