She may be genetically blessed with good looks and perfect hair, but just like the rest of us, Vanessa Williams follows a strict beauty regimen to ward off wrinkles, lines, sagging skin and everything that’s considered a “beauty problem.” Fascinated by all that science has to offer in the world of beauty, the 55-year-old actress isn’t shy about the treatments she’s tried—the good, the bad and the ugly. Claiming she “won’t go down without a fight,” these are her beauty mainstays for looking this good.
Vanessa admits to doing Ultherapy, and more than once. “I’ve done Ultherapy three times,” she says. “It hurt like hell the first time I did it and I swore I would never do it again, but three months later my makeup artist asked what I did and said my face was really tight and looked great.” She also has a microcurrent machine at home that she says she’s been using for a number of years. “I have a small one that Melanie Simon introduced me to called ZIIP Beauty ($495). It takes 12 minutes to do and is an easy thing I can do on the road that tighten my neck, chin, eyes and forehead. If I’m doing anything on camera, I’ll do a Botox regimen to keep my face soft so that I don’t look like I have a perpetual frown.”

While Vanessa may have found her beauty staple treatments, there’s one trendy procedure that she tried but wasn’t that impressed with. “I did microneedling once, but I really didn’t think it was that effective. Some people, like Rebecca Romijn, swear by it. I’d rather do a radio-frequency or microcurrent treatment than penetrate my skin with needles,” she says. “My message to anyone who is considering these technologies is to make sure you go to a professional who is recommended by someone who has actually had good results. Just because they have a device and a technician who can do it, doesn’t mean you’ll end with a great result.”
We couldn’t agree more, Vanessa.
