Trinny Woodall is an icon when it comes to steering people in the right direction when it comes to fashion and beauty, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her share of beauty-related faux pas from her past. In a recent interview with Woman & Home, the What Not to Wear star and beauty entrepreneur revealed these two skin-related mistakes are her biggest beauty regrets.
What the makeup mogul wishes she’d done differently
With her own booming makeup and skin-care empire and her ageless complexion, it’s hard to believe that Woodall has any beauty regrets at all. But, like many of us, the Trinny London founder has suffered the consequences of acne overcompensation and harsh UV rays. “I made so many beauty mistakes when I was younger,” she begins. “When I had bad acne, I compensated by wearing a lot of fake tan. I went in the sun too, so I had sun damage.”
The lack of proper care for her acne on top of her excessive sun exposure left Woodall with scarring and sun damage, making the habits her biggest regrets when it comes to her individual and professional beauty endeavors.
How she’s handling it
But, despite the skin damage Woodall experienced at the hands of her younger self’s beauty mistakes, the 59-year-old is more than candid about the steps she’s taken to remedy her faults and restore her to her most confident self. “You have to be open about what tweaks you’ve had done,” Woodall explains. “I have Botox twice a year. I’ve had a CO2 laser for my acne scarring and sun damage, and some filler in my temple because when you get older, you can look skeletal.”
Tweakments aside, Trinny Woodall also emphasizes the importance of a balanced skin-health routine to keep your complexion in tip-top shape. “I think it’s about balancing what will help you not develop more lines, versus texture of skin and keeping up a good skin-care regime,” she says. “Everyone should follow five basic skin-care steps, including cleansing and moisturizing. Clean your skin, exfoliate with a liquid exfoliant—love my Trinny London exfoliants. Use an antioxidant, a retinoid and SPF.”
