While Real Housewives of New York City cast member Tinsley Mortimer may be popping up every Thursday night on Bravo to deliver some reality-TV relief, in real time, she’s hunkering down at home with her fiancé, Scott.
As the 44-year-old told us, she’s staying busy with work—last week, her PETA “Pet Adoption” campaign launched and her current labor of love is collaborating with RUME eco-friendly bags to deliver its Resort 2020 designs—but she’s also scheduling time in the day for some much-needed self-care.
“I’ve been trying lots of different creams that I have had and never had the time to try,” she says. “Since I’m barely wearing face makeup during this time, I have been loading up [on products] and constantly keeping my face superhydrated. I’ve also been doing that with my hair with leave-in treatments.”
One hair-related move that didn’t go so well: Setting up a DIY salon with her fiancé. “I buzzed [his hair] and totally messed up the back,” she says. “It was so uneven that we had to make it super short. Thankfully, it’s starting to grow back.”
She also says that she’s discovered that her true hair shade is, surprisingly, far from her normal blond. “I didn’t realize how dark I am—I don’t even think I’m dark brown! Apparently, I am an odd shade of light black! I miss my blond so much; Kyle White at Oscar Blandi in New York is going to be my first stop when we are able to travel again.”
Until then, Mortimer admits there is one beauty habit she refuses to skip—even when she’s not socializing: Applying her signature XXO TINSLEY for Winky Lux lashes, which she helped create. “I refuse to not have my lashes on. They are the one thing that make me feel normal. I feel sane—or as sane as I can possibly be during this time—when they are on.”
