At-home skin care has gone beyond exfoliation and eye masks. There are dozens of new devices—and ancient tools that are trending again—on the market to help keep your skin healthy and glowing. According to insights from Spate that Plum Beauty shared with us, the market is on the rise with 1.4 million average monthly searches for facial accessories and devices—but one skin-care tool, in particular, is the most commonly searched: the face scraper.
A face scraper, which also goes by skin spatula, uses ultrasonic waves to penetrate the skin and promote deep exfoliation. This process is meant to minimize blackheads and other blemishes. According to the Spate insights, searches for face scrapers have grown by 78.7 percent since last year, with 76.2K average monthly searches in the U.S. If you’re interested in trying out a “face scraper” for yourself, we love the DERMAFLASH DERMAPORE Ultrasonic Pore Extractor & Serum Infuser ($99), shown, which works double time to purge pores and keep your serums working their best.
The runner-up to the skin spatula was the gua sha stone. This traditional Chinese medicine practice employs a flat piece of jade or rose quartz to improve skin elasticity and circulation for glowing, more sculpted-looking skin.
Followed by gua sha is the ice roller. Searches for the ice roller have grown by 70.6 percent in the last year. An ice roller uses cryotherapy to boost circulation, soothe swelling and irritation and tighten the skin. These three popular facial accessories are the perfect items to keep in your skin-care toolbox.
