Teddi Mellencamp has been open about her experience battling melanoma, a form of skin cancer and continues to use her platform to advocate for regular skin checks. But beyond educating and encouraging others to prioritize their health, the wellness coach and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, is just as passionate about celebrating her victories—big and small—when they come.
“I just got done having a little cry, but it’s a good one,” Mellencamp told her followers in an Instagram video posted to her grid on Monday, December 16. “It’s the first time, and over two years, I’ve gone in for my three-month check and not had to have a biopsy because I have another cancer spot.”
Mellencamp was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 and has had 17 surgeries to remove cancerous growths. While she celebrated the occasion as “such a good feeling,” she assured her followers she’ll remain vigilant, adding that she’s scheduled her next checkup for March. “This should be a reminder to all of you guys, please, please, book your skin checks, book your mammograms, book your OBGYN appointments, book your eye doctor appointments.”
“Going in for my continual 3-month skin checks is never easy,” she continued in the post’s caption. “The anxiety always takes over; the thought of another biopsy, another surgery, another addition to the scar on my back.
And I always end up crying. But today the tears were those of joy. Because for the first time there wasn’t anything abnormal, nothing that needed an extra look. And I am grateful.
I’m grateful for my doctors, nurses, family, friends, and all of you for your continual support,” she concluded. “As long as you’re here, I have a reason to keep advocating for myself and for others.”
