After nearly two years, the iconic Eras Tour has finally come to a close, just in time for Taylor Swift to celebrate her birthday. Today, the 14-time Grammy Award winner celebrates her 35th birthday. Even though it feels like just yesterday the “Lover” singer was talking about feeling 22, a whopping 13 years have gone by (Coincidence? I think not). But, the matriarch of the Swiftie family looks as youthful and radiant as ever. Swift keeps her beauty cards notoriously close to her chest, but we’ve rounded up what we know about her beauty secrets to celebrate her big day.
She Knows a Good Lipstick
One thing about Swift is she has lipstick down to a science. We know Swift for her classic red lip, and her years swearing by the style have taught her to gravitate towards a reliable formula. Swift is a Pat McGrath girl at heart, and she’s been known to use the brand’s LiquiLUST Legendary Matte Wear Lipstick ($34) in Elson 4 for a bright, vivid red that lasts from stage to stadium.
As of late, Swift has experimented with new shades and expanded her lipstick wardrobe. At the 2024 VMAs, Swift stepped out with a burnt orange lip, sending fans into a frenzy. After the event, makeup artist Lorrie Turk verified that the shade was the NARS Lipstick in Morocco ($26), adding another long-lasting shade to her smudge-proof, eye-catching lipstick collection.
She Has a Weather-Proof Base Routine
While Swift keeps her makeup and beauty routine rather hush-hush, her makeup artist Turk has shouted out many McGrath products that keep Swift’s makeup in place through rainy shows. The secret to a long-lasting makeup look is good prep. Turk opts for McGrath’s Sublime Perfection Hydrating Primer ($38) before solidifying her flawless complexion with the Sublime Perfection Weightless Foundation ($69). Swift has experienced tons of rainy, sweaty, humid shows throughout her tour, so a sure-fire setting powder is a must. Turk relies on the brand’s Sublime Perfection Setting Powder ($42) for a move-proof glam.
She Keeps Her Signature Scent Mysterious
While we all are desperate to know exactly what scent Swift wears, the fact that she keeps her signature fragrance under wraps is honestly so alluring and mysterious and we’re obsessed. At the 2024 VMAs this year, Swift briefly revealed the brand of her signature scent—Tom Ford—but no specific product. However, putting the pieces together, in a 2010 interview with David Letterman, the host described Swift as smelling like “expensive wood.” Fans have since speculated her signature scent to be something like Tom Ford’s Santal Blush ($195) or Tabacco Vanille ($195).
She Keeps Herself Fit
If you’ve seen the Eras Tour in person or the concert film in theaters, you know Swift’s 3-hour performance is more than just a concert; it’s a full production. To perform a show of that caliber several nights a week for quite literally years takes a lot of prep, and Swift took her Eras Tour fitness routine seriously. She started by singing her entire set list while running on the treadmill, rounding out the routine with weight training, strength training and, of course, dance lessons. “I wanted to get it in my bones. I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought,” she told TIME magazine. “Learning choreography is not my strong suit.”
Another huge part of Swift’s Eras Tour training was mental, maintaining discipline throughout the 66-show tour. “I know I’m not drinking on tour. I know I’m working out in between shows. I know I’m keeping my strength and stamina up. I know I’m going on that stage whether I’m sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable or stressed,” she told the outlet. “That’s part of my identity as a human being now. If someone buys a ticket to my show, I’m going to play it unless we have some sort of force majeure.”
