When I first discovered the magic of tubing mascara years ago, I was immediately hooked. Back then, my go-to product was L’Oréal’s Double Extend Beauty Tubes Lengthening Mascara ($14), which came with a dual-end wand and two tubing formulas. The technology was unlike anything I’d tried and gave me long, full lashes in just one coat. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t dabbled in other lash looks (under lashes and clusters specifically) since then, but Soshe Beauty’s Waterproof Tubing Mascara ($32) has reignited my love for tubing mascara in a new way. Below, see my honest thoughts and review of the brand’s latest launch.
What Makes This Mascara Special
Tubing mascaras use an innovative formula with polymers to create a tubelike structure that wraps around the lashes, extending the length and increasing volume. This allows the product to slide off easily and gently, making it ideal for maintaining the health of your lashes. Soshe’s formula takes things one step further. The formula is filled with nourishing ingredients, such as argan and castor seed oil, that strengthen the lashes over time. The wand is also unique and features a bristle, not plastic, brush that adds volume as it separates your lashes.
What I Liked About the Mascara
Lashes are one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine. I genuinely relish the transformation that occurs after coating my lashes in mascara. That said, I like a formula that isn’t heavy or clumpy looking while in the tube. When I pulled out the brush, Soshe’s formula had a creamy consistency that clung to the brush organically. The brush glided the formula through my lashes and applied it evenly, which is particularly important for a natural look. I prefer not to apply layers of the same mascara (mascara cocktailing is the only exception) and instead like to use the wand to disperse all of the product from one coat. With this mascara, I got the desired effect with no clumping. The waterproof formula also kept it in place throughout the day with absolutely no smudging or flaking.
My Results
I usually opt for tubing mascara for nights out when I want extra-long lashes that rival falsies. This formula gave me a natural, fluffy look and didn’t make my lashes look clumpy or overly loaded with mascara. It also lasted for hours, even through my train commutes in the unseasonably warm weather and a spin class. Plus, it washed off easily at the end of the night. Tubing mascara can benefit the health of your lashes since it doesn’t require any agitation to remove. In that vein, the natural finish of this formula makes it one I reach for daily. I’m pretty sure my lashes will thank me in the long run.
