With a career that has spanned over film and television, New Zealand–born actress Simone Kessell is joining the world of the Emmy-nominated Showtime series Yellowjackets this week (she plays the adult version of Lottie) and she couldn’t be more excited. “If you were a fan of the first season, the second season promises so much more,” she shares. “More ‘90s music, chaos, trauma, relationships, spirituality, and ultimately, that dark sense of humor.”
What is the most difficult thing about filming this show?
“The most difficult thing about filming the show is the location, being in extremely cold conditions in a Kaftan!”
What is the most rewarding?
“The most rewarding is the stellar cast that I get to work with every day.”
Are there any glam moments that help get you into character?
“My glam beauty moments for Adult Lottie are the hair extensions; I have very long hair, but we decided to go even further. I have four pieces that blend in, and I feel very guru/goddess once I have them in.”
What are some of your favorite treatments, skin-care products right now?
“I have just started Laser Genesis at Marque Skin Solutions here in Sydney. This is a magical light laser treatment that promotes cell renewal. It’s only 15 minutes, and I really feel like it’s helping with the texture and the collagen in my skin.”
Do you have any beauty favorites you still use from home?
“I am from New Zealand, and my go-to face mask is AOTEA Manuka Honey 500++ ($50). It’s calming and plumping while killing any bacteria (blemishes), and you can use it every day, if you like. I have recently started using Tata Harper, and I am really loving the results.”
What do you do for self-care?
“My self-care wellness regime is 45 minutes a day of exercise, running, floor Pilates, weights, and just getting my heart pumping. When I run, I find it meditative and calming. It’s my private time to daydream, visualize, and strengthen my body.”
