You may have strutted the streets in Sam Edelman’s always-trendy kicks, but now you’ll be smelling like the brand, too. Introducing Signature by Sam Edelman ($68), the brand’s first-ever eau de parfum.
Available to purchase beginning September 15, this fragrance has a special way of transporting us on a vacation, and it’s all thanks to top notes of mimosa accord and airy florals, middle notes of margarita froth and green florals and bottom notes of heart woods and sandalwood.
“The notes are undeniably unique and share the same irreverence and whimsicality as the brand, while still capturing the important earmarks of our heritage,” co-founder Sam Edelman exclusively tells NewBeauty. “Margarita froth and the green florals come from substances that are the color green, just like our own signature pantone. Wood is another prominent note, and an element that is often reflected throughout the brand ethos with our equestrian influences, craftsmanship and inspiration from architectural design.”
Beautifully molded into the shape of a high heel, raw materials were used to design the sculpture-like top and base. According to the brand, the idea behind the design was to embody the modern elegance that is so vital to their label. On the other hand, the engineering that took place on inside of the bottle involved fragrance designer Raymond Matts, who worked alongside Firmenich Principle Perfumer Frank Voelkl to create the scent. As the brand puts it, spraying this perfume should evoke a sense of empowerment, akin to the feeling of stepping out in a pair of heels.
“As a designer, all I can think about is my love of sharing the many places, people and things that have inspired me throughout my career—to tell my story,” says Edelman. “To me, fragrance is inclusive and timeless but in a way that’s starkly different to how a designer tells his story through clothing and footwear.” While he’s compiled years of inspiration into this bottle, his voyage to create starts with his wife and co-founder of the brand, Libby Edelman. “She embodies the effortless elegance, feel-good spirit, and aspirational style that I convey in fashion and now in fragrance.”
