Salma Hayek is never slacking in the “good makeup” department, but her weekend red-carpet look took the whole color game to the next level, playing up a blue-pink theme with some twists.
Created by her go-to makeup artist Jo Baker, who shared the step-by-step with us, Hayek sported “a pop” of Gucci Blushing Powder in Coral Flower ($49) and paired her lip with Gucci’s Exposure Matte Lipstick ($40) to “keep the same tone of cool-pink throughout.”
While that blush maneuver may sound standard, Baker mixed it up by applying it to an unexpected place: the eyes.
“With Salma’s bright-blue sequined gown, I swept a soft, shimmery gray shadow across her lids and then wet the shadow with a small brush and used as a liner along the lash line,” she says. “On top of her smoky-gray shadow, I swept the same blush to add a soft a reflective floral tone.”
Baker also adds that the secret to making a look like this look modern is skipping the lip liner. “I applied this matte lipstick straight onto her lips with no fuss detailing. It keeps it soft and pretty but still packs a petal-tone punch!”
