We never thought we’d see the day when celebrities showing off their grey roots on Instagram was commonplace, yet here we are.
Now, as hairstylists are beginning to see clients again, our feeds are about to get filled with all of the summer hair-color inspiration, instead. First up: Salma Hayek’s glossy hair transformation.
“In anticipation for reshoots, I finally had to redo my roots,” the actress captioned her recent Instagram photo, a side-by-side look at the difference a little hair dye—and a fresh blowout—can do.
The left photo—one that looks all too familiar to those of us still waiting to see our colorists—is Hayek with overgrown grey roots, still boasting her signature jet-black strands. On the right, the 53-year-old boasts a refreshed, lighter look complete with sun-kissed caramel highlights and a voluminous blowout.
While last summer’s hair trends were all about shaggy cuts, blunt bangs and making a statement, this summer is all about getting back to what makes us feel confident. For Hayek, that looks like a sleek blowout and a touch of honey highlights. A great reminder that going lighter for summer doesn’t need to mean bleached, streaky highlights—especially for all of us brunettes—we’re about to see Hayek’s refreshed hair-color everywhere.
