Pitch Perfect 3 star Ruby Rose says her recent bout with adult acne is a side effect of her job. After walking the red carpet for the film’s Australian premiere, the actress responded to tabloid articles that pointed out her acne flare up by sharing selfies that show a breakout on one side of her face. “This acne belongs to me, not them, and you are welcome to it,” she wrote.

Citing her frequent interviews and travel as the culprit for her one-sided breakout, the 31-year-old actress says a doctor confirmed what she already suspected about the onset of acne. “[My] Dermatologist says it’s from the bacteria from all of the phone interviews I did for PP3 and a reaction to the hotel pillow cases (which I already know),” she revealed to her social media followers.

It seems one of the perils of being a sought after actress is the frequent exposure to bacteria while on the road. “Yeah it suks…for me, I don’t see how it’s bothering so many others? But I’m human. It happens…one side of my face is clear and the other is a mess.” Rose’s dilemma is also a cautionary tale for modern times where our skin is directly exposed to more bacteria thanks to our smartphones. Thankfully smartphone-related acne can be avoided by using headphones while talking and frequently disinfecting your screen.
