It never ceases to amaze us how our favorite celebrities can turn any red carpet, film showing or even after party into one of the biggest fashion and beauty showcases of the year, and the 2024 Cannes Film Festival is the perfect example of such a phenomenon. While the A-listers are taking to the southern French shores to debut films and preview some of the most anticipated projects of the year, this year the stars have also turned the event into a well of inspiration for chic, sophisticated beauty moments.
When it comes to elegant, clean-girl beauty, Rosie Huntington Whiteley is a key player, and her 2024 Cannes Film Festival looks were no exception. At an event for Vanity Fair last week, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel caught eyes with her cascading, glass-like waves, which were courtesy of this UK-based brand’s hair oil.
How to Get Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s Glossy Strands
One of Rosie’s Cannes hair looks that we just can’t peel our eyes away from is her loose, movie-star waves, that are so shiny they literally look like glass, and as the star’s hairstylist Christian Wood told Harper’s Bazaar, shine is always key for a Rosie look. “The hair we love to do on Rosie when we’re collaborating together is a focus on gorgeous quality and shine. There’s always a level of ‘simple sophistication’, we like to call it.”
So, how does Wood go about creating that next-level shine? It starts with a good shampoo and conditioner, he told the outlet, noting Champo Kapha Balancing Collection ($58) as a favorite because “it keeps the hair really light and airy which is always important before styling red carpet looks.” Also from the UK-based line, Wood credits the Weightless Hair Oil ($42).
As Wood himself explained in, “For this look, we started by applying the Leave-In Perfecting Cream ($38) root to tip on 50 percent damp hair. Then added a layer of the weightless hair oil root to to tip. This will give you the perfect amount of shine and sleekness for a snatched up do while also leaving the hair very malleable so you can get a sleek and bump free finish, unlike using gel/mousse which dries super fast and doesn’t leave much room for mistakes. I also think using products that have treatment benefits is great tip while do a sleek do. It’s like a mini treatment on the hair while it’s up.”
