When Hailey Bieber unveils a new Rhode product, it feels like a national holiday—and today, we’re celebrating Barrier Butter Day. The brand’s latest release, which launched today, is formulated to strengthen the skin barrier and lock in moisture. And that’s not all; the brand has given us another treat, too: the one and only Claudia Schiffer as the face of the newly released Barrier Butter campaign.
Barrier Butter Moisture Balm stays true to Bieber’s essentials-only approach, which has already delivered best-sellers like the Pocket Blush, Pineapple Refresh Cleanser, and Peptide Lip Treatment. In a conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, she explained why it was a must-add to her brand’s lineup: “Looking back, I’ve always mentioned using a rich balmy product whenever I talked about my skin-care routine–especially in the winter months as my skin starts to get dry and patchy. When I sleep with it on overnight, my skin feels plump and gorgeous the next day.”
Bieber also touched on how versatile Barrier Butter is. “I think a rich, balmy product is definitely necessary, but I didn’t want to create something that was strictly for the face,” she continued. “The Barrier Butter is great for the face, but it’s also amazing for the neck and chest. It does address fine lines and help with skin plumping. It’s also really beautiful for the hands. You can literally put it anywhere on the body. I’ve had a lot of friends who were testing the product use it on their arms.”
Unsurprisingly, Schiffer’s already a big fan of Barrier Butter, too. The supermodel told Vogue that she has “a lot of days where my skin is much drier and the luxury buttery feel is perfect for intensive moisture. When my skin has been covered in makeup on photoshoots, and the hydration has been sucked out of it, it’s like an intense hydration bomb overnight.”
That “hydration bomb” is thanks to hyaluronic acid (in five molecular weights for deep hydration), polyglutamic acid (a hydrating humectant), murumuru butter (a moisture-locking emollient), and ceramides (a hydrating lipid).
