A household name since her now-iconic M.A.B. bag sparked a fashion frenzy in 2005, Rebecca Minkoff recently debuted her first fragrance, which sits top-shelf next to her everyday beauty lineup.
Bag Habit
“I am inspired by my customers, and the journeys they are going through. Many of my customers purchased their first Rebecca Minkoff bag when they received their first job, and are now shopping for their ‘milestones,’ like bachelorettes, job promotion rewards, etc. We work to create handbags and other products to enhance their lives in all stages, and grow with them as they do. One signature handbag style that stands the test of time is our Edie ($378)—it has seen many fabrications and iterations, but has continued to be a bestseller due to its versatility.”
Modern Accord
“I had the opportunity to expand the brand and enter the fragrance category, and with that I wanted to create a scent that embodied the Rebecca Minkoff essence. Our customer is bohemian, with a downtown edge. Someone who is multifaceted, wears many hats, and does so with ease. I wanted this scent to do the same. I also was inspired by my own journey as a mother. It is important to me, and has been since I started my family, to use products that I can stand behind and make sure they are not harmful to myself or my children.”
Love Notes
“The jasmine notes in my signature scent are inspired by the jasmine trees outside of my childhood home in Florida, which brings back sentimental memories for me. The notes of jasmine and tobacco create a perfect blend that is subtle and soft, but also a statement. Before I created my scent, I used to wear Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille ($250).”
Simple Approach
“When it comes to my personal beauty routine, I live by the saying ‘less is more.’ I have seen tons of brands throughout the years, and I have perfected a simple routine that gives an effortless look. As far as choosing products that I use in my day-to-day, I always love to support fellow female-founded brands, as well as clean brands that will not harm my skin or the environment.”
Moisture Musts
“Honest Beauty has been my holy grail for completing my ‘no makeup makeup’ look, especially the Magic Beauty Balm ($13). I love to apply it as a lip balm, or even to my cuticles if they are feeling dry during the winter here in NYC. When it comes to skin care, each night I apply the Linné Balance Face Oil ($54), which is super hydrating yet does not leave my skin feeling greasy.” Also in Minkoff’s rotation: Tata Harper Repairing Moisturizer ($116), Paradox Marrakech Liquid Gold ($65), Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum ($150), Living Libations Rose Best Skin Ever ($30), and HATCH Belly Oil ($58).
Color Story
“Whenever I want to add a pop of color, I find myself turning to Merit Beauty. Their Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil ($24) in Pink Beet is the perfect nude for me. My lashes are also thanking me for working in Merit’s Clean Lash ($26) as my new go-to mascara.”
