Getting beautiful blond highlights usually means spending hours at the salon and potentially dealing with some serious damage. Well, that may no longer be the case anymore thanks to an innovative new product that’s launching next month from Pravana, a professional hair color company.

Starting in October, Pravana is introducing the Blonde Wand, a hair-coloring flat iron that claims to deliver lighter locks in just seconds, helping you get out of the salon much faster.
According to WWD, Steve Goddard, the founder and president of Pravana saw that stylists were trying to speed up the bleaching process by using flat irons and was inspired to develop a thermal tool that could use heat to accelerate the coloring process without causing damage to the hair.

The Blonde Wand features unique plates that don’t quite touch so that the tool hovers over the hair segments without overheating them. In addition, the maximum temperature the tool heats up to is lower than that of traditional flat irons. The Blonde Wand also comes with a proprietary Pure Light Crème Lightener that’s designed to work as a system—together the tool and the lightener can lift hair color six to seven shades lighter in just 10 seconds (versus an hour using traditional methods).
This super quick process also surprisingly translates to less damage. The company used a third party lab to test the quality of hair after using the Blonde Wand versus the usual methods. “Quite startlingly, the hair processed at 10 seconds using The Blonde Wand was much less damaged than the hair processed in our control [case],” Goddard tells WWD. “We have applied for a patent because it is truly different than anything out in the marketplace.”
Deciding whether or not to go blond suddenly seems like a much easier choice.
