The phrase “Pookie is looking fire,” swiftly became a viral sensation once Jett Puckett uttered it to his wife Campbell Puckett (Pookie) on TikTok. At first, it seems like a silly, fun bit, but it’s actually a beautiful display of supportive partnership. I mean, who among us doesn’t want our partners to tell us we look fire? Now, the beautiful couple is expecting, and we were eager to hear about what’s kept Pookie looking and feeling fire throughout the journey.

Did you swap any of your skin or hair products during pregnancy?

“I’ve definitely made some changes to my routine since my skin has become more sensitive. I’ve switched to gentler, pregnancy-safe products, which can be overwhelming with so many options out there, but I’ve found that keeping it simple is the best approach. Bio-Oil ($24) has been a real lifesaver for my skin—I use it every day to keep my skin hydrated and to help prevent stretch marks as my belly grows. It’s been especially helpful for soothing that itchy feeling you get as your belly expands, and it’s perfect to apply right before bed.

I’ve also been loving the Elemis Cleansing Balm ($69) to remove my makeup at night. It’s simple, effective and doesn’t require a full 10-step routine, which is exactly what I need right now. It does the job and leaves my skin feeling great before bed. For hair, if you want a lazy pregnant girl hack, I love using the dae Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream with Taming Wand ($18). It gives you a sleek, slicked-back bun without much effort, so you don’t have to worry about your hair.”

What’s your best advice for maintaining confidence and a sense of self through pregnancy as the body changes?

“Dealing with body changes during pregnancy can be challenging, and for me, they happened sooner than I expected. You really can’t predict how these changes will affect you until you’re going through it. The key is to embrace it and remind yourself that you’re growing a human being inside of you, which is an incredible and beautiful thing. It’s completely normal for your body to change, and there’s something truly amazing about experiencing this side of life that not everyone gets to go through. The best thing you can do is embrace these changes and dress in a way that makes you feel beautiful and confident.”

What has been the biggest surprise about pregnancy?

“The biggest surprise of pregnancy for me has been the number of unexpected things that come up—little worries you never think about until you’re actually experiencing them. You start wondering, ‘Is this normal?’ or ‘Should I be concerned about this feeling?’ and it can easily become overwhelming. It’s important to remember that this is completely normal, especially if it’s your first time going through it.

There have been plenty of moments where I’ve freaked out, asking myself if everything is okay, and Jett will step in, concerned, asking if I need anything to feel better. He’s been so protective and attentive, both to me and the baby. The truth is, there are so many unknowns in pregnancy, but it’s all part of the journey. Just trust the process, and know that everything will be okay.”

Have you had any fun pregnancy cravings?

“I’ve definitely been having more cravings lately, especially for sweets. It’s a bit sweeter than what I’m usually used to, but I love a good cinnamon roll or a sweet treat before bed. Whether it’s a cookie or some ice cream, I often enjoy it right in bed—it’s my little indulgence, and I don’t feel bad about it at all.”

Pookie teams up with Bio-Oil Labor of Love campaign

Fun fact: September is the busiest month for births, with September 9th being the peak. During September, Bio-Oil is celebrating its second annual Labor of Love campaign, which recognizes incredible labor and delivery staff. This year they’re offering scholarships in partnership with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to 10 nursing students who exemplify dedication and passion for maternal care. They will also be sending thank you gifts to staff on some of the busiest labor and delivery floors throughout the country.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Bio-Oil for their second annual Labor of Love campaign. This campaign honors the essential role that hospital staff—including obstetricians, anesthesiologists, technicians, doulas, nurses and more—play in supporting mothers during childbirth,” says Campbell. “It’s such a meaningful way to give back and empower the next generation of health-care providers, which is particularly important to me as I’ve been so closely connected to my care team throughout my pregnancy.”
