Paige DeSorbo is simultaneously one of the most glamorous celebrities on my Instagram feed, while also being so real that she doesn’t mind being on reality TV in bed without makeup on. Basically, the Summer House star is the ultimate “get you a girl who can do both.” For my recent interview with Paige, I was lucky enough to crawl into bed with her—if you know Paige, you know that’s akin to her throne. We discussed two very important things: bangs and acne.
I have a question about bangs, and this is personal. I’ve interviewed you on Zoom before, and I asked if I should get bangs. You said ‘No don’t do it I hate my bangs,’ and now here we are in bed together and you have bangs.
“I had different bangs then! I hated my curtains. It was, like, too much hair on each side. When I most recently cut them, which I think was in May, I got new bangs and these, I love. I’ll never not have them. I don’t know what they are, but they’re shorter and they’re more in the middle. My curtain bangs were side to side, and you had to do them. These, I don’t feel like I have to wake up every morning and do them. My tip is you have to get them trimmed constantly. I constantly have to get them done.”
Honestly, I got them after our chat anyway. I was like ‘I don’t care what Paige says.’
Did you hate it?
Yes, I did. You’ve been candid on Instagram sharing photos of your acne. How did you get past letting it affect your confidence?
“I think the number one thing that helped me was when I got onto Summer House I refused to be on camera without makeup. I was just like, ‘I’m not going to be on TV and show my acne or not have makeup on.’ And then one day, I was just like, ‘You know what? This is crazy. I’m not waking up in the morning to do my makeup to get back in bed to film Summer House. So I just stopped doing that, and I went bare face way more.
So many people were like, ‘Thank you for being realistic, and not putting makeup on in the morning, and showing your real skin.’ I felt just more connected to people when we would talk about our acne, so I never went back to putting makeup on all the time. So I just started showing it.”
I just saw the before and after photos of you. How did you clear up your acne so much?
“I found Face Reality through my being open about acne. That photo is not even six months after starting their skin care. I always want to do what Madalina (Conti) [her aesthetician] says.”
