When I caught news of Oscar Mayer’s bologna sheet mask launch this morning, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me due to post-weekend exhaustion, but, to my surprise, it’s as real as can be.
According to Allure, Oscar Mayer—yes, the sliced deli meat company—created a sheet mask that’s designed to resemble bologna. Don’t believe us? head over to Amazon, where the Hydrogel Sheet Face Mask ($5) has been on sale since 1/19. “Treat yo’self. Meat yo’self. Or better yet, give the gift of bologna bliss to others. Nothing says “I love you” like a slice of self-care,” the product’s description reads.
To make matters even more interesting, the Oscar Mayer claims that this meat-shaped mask “minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.” Although there are no clinical studies to support these claims, the ingredients inside the mask are known for their abilities to hydrate and plump the skin. Included on the label: Witch hazel and seaweed-derived ingredients for moisture and oil control along with collagen to help plump and brighten.
The comments on the brand’s most recent post show that followers are excited for the launch: “This is sold out on Amazon!!! How do I get my hands on this,” writes one follower. “It’s actually amazing I just tried it,” says another. While it may look like a sliced piece of meat, it seems as though its skin-boosting effects may be more than what meets the eye (or the mouth!).
