Considering we had just told you about their new Comfort Night Repair Cream, we were as surprised as anyone to hear that cosmetics-counter giant Prescriptives is going out of business.
A statement released last week read, “After a thorough analysis of the Prescriptives brand, management concluded that the brand’s long term business model is no longer viable given the current market environment.” Global wholesale distribution will end on January 31, 2010.
The Estee Lauder-owned company rose to fame through its department store counters, where it offered an innovative service called Colorprint, custom-blended foundations. Despite a wide range of makeup and skincare products, however, changes in the beauty market over the past decade have led to dwindling sales.
Fans of Prescriptives will want to take advantage of prescriptives.com, where the brand will “help service consumers for replenishment of key products, while inventory lasts.”
