Having a solid exercise routine is always a good idea, no matter your age, fitness level or accessibility to a gym. But sometimes, those hours spent working out don’t always lead to your ideal outcome, especially considering how much our bodies change over time or after major life events like child birth. Fortunately, in-office body-sculpting treatments have made it easier than ever to get a more sculpted body from head to toe, all without having to schedule in harder (or more frequent!) workouts.

A new mom in her forties, Katya Price—the founder and CEO of the fitness studio Dancebody—experienced changes to her body that she was hoping to improve. She already had a dedicated fitness routine, but she felt improvements in her muscle tone had plateaued a bit after child birth. “The physical changes of pregnancy and postpartum are so demanding on a woman’s body,” she explains, adding that this is when she decided to look into in-office body-sculpting treatments.

After consulting with New York facial plastic surgeon Yael Halaas, MD, Price decided to be a great candidate for the “Total Tone Up” treatment, which combines Emsculpt NEO—which addresses muscle tone on the body—and Emface, which targets facial contours. “Katia’s concerns ranged from collagen loss as well as toning and tightening,” says Dr. Halaas. “Fortunately, both the Emface and Emsculpt NEO help with [that].”

The first treatment of Price’s session, Emsculpt NEO, is a noninvasive procedure that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology along with radiofrequency (RF) energy to strengthen muscles and kill fat cells. Studies have shown that this treatment can produce up to 24,000 muscle contractions in a single treatment, providing an average increase of 25% in muscle mass and a 30% decrease in fat after a full series of treatments are completed.

Next, Emface was applied to Price’s cheeks during her appointment. This machine utilizes high-intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation (HIFES) to stimulate the facial muscles, therefore lifting and sculpting facial contours while also minimizing wrinkles. “By combining these two cutting-edge treatments, you can achieve optimal results in a seamless, efficient manner,” says Dr. Halaas. “Katia will begin to see a gradual increase in wrinkle reduction, enhanced facial contours and improved muscle tone from the Emface, [and] the Emsculpt NEO will help Katia achieve tighter skin and increased muscle growth while strengthening and conditioning existing muscle fibers in the abdomen area.”

In total, Price’s head-to-toe treatment time was only about one hour. “Typically, we recommend a course of four to six sessions, although the specific number will be determined based on your provider’s assessment of what is most beneficial for your unique situation,” explains Dr. Halaas.

Ultimately, combining these treatments into a “Total Tone Up” appointment is a great option for anyone who is looking to visibly tone multiple areas of their body at one time in a way that complements their current exercise and healthy-eating routine.

And for anyone on the fence about turning to in-office treatments for a boost, Price sums it up perfectly: “Women should always do what makes them feel better, because that’s the most important measurement of all.” As with any procedure, consult with your doctor to make sure Emsculpt NEO and Emface are ideal options for you.
