Welcome to Miami. The South Florida city of sunshine, beaches and nightlife is never late to the party in the beauty department—nor the fragrance one. According to the locals, here are the eight best Miami fragrances wafting through the warm air this December.
Byredo Gypsy Water ($225)
Model and influencer Mara Martin says this woodsy staple is what she wears (and wore to Art Basel). “It’s the perfect everyday perfume and it’s not overpowering,” Martin says. “It’s both woody and floral smelling with a hint of vanilla that I love.”
Sol De Janeiro Perfume Mists ($38)
As expected, Martin says the SDJ mists are pretty much made for Miami. (The brand recently had its first-ever Art Basel installation, Jardim Sol de Janeiro: A Garden for the Senses, which showcased its three fan-favorite scents, Cheirosa 62, 68 and 59.) “They have a set of three that really lasts throughout the day and is a little more affordable. They all have vanilla in them with a touch of warmth perfect for Miami events.”
Comptoir Sud Pacifique in Vanille Coca ($110)
My friend Lisa Goldfaden is a born and bred Miami local who wears this vanilla-coco-banana scent on the regular. “I love how lightweight it smells and feels on my skin. I smell like a tropical drink, which is perfect for Miami. People stop me on the street to ask what I’m wearing.”
Ellis Brooklyn Miami Nectar ($110)
Don’t let the New York borough in the brand name fool you: This tropical gourmand is Miami through and through. “I love it,” shares one happy customer. “It’s definitely giving summer in a bottle. Walk along the beach, rooftop vibes, outdoor wedding. It smells delicious—like a fruity cocktail.”
Loewe Agua Miami ($105)
Inspired by the “sparkle of light on flowing water,” this iconic Loewe scent is both energizing and refreshing. Combining notes of lemon, tangerine and neroli, the unisex fragrance is everything you want in an aromatic aquatic—simple, yet always captivating.
Messi Eau de Parfum ($72)
The soccer phenom (and Miami transplant) has delivered a scent worthy of a star. Housed in a sleek, dark blue bottle, Leo Messi’s new signature scent features notes of cardamom and wild cypress that meet with warm aromas of leather, cedarwood and hints of vanilla.
19-69 Miami Blue ($75)
Delivering a cheeky ode to the Miami Vice days of never-ending parties and pastels, this fresh-aquatic fragrance features notes of lemon, rose oxide and amber.
Tom Ford Soliel Blanc (Starting at $195)
Our aesthetic content manager and Florida native Tatiana Bido says this Tom Ford pick is the perfect “solar” scent. “Soleil Blanc is unexpected, sultry and addictive,” says Mr. Tom Ford himself. “It is a solar, floral amber that unapologetically exudes the pursuit of sun and luxury that defines Soleil.”
