In times of turmoil—both personal and societal—we all can unite in one thing: our need for art. When the pressures of life in the 21st century feel too heavy, appreciating and engaging with art and beauty is one of the most cathartic ways to ground ourselves in the human experience. When it comes to engaging with art, the iconic Musée du Louvre is somewhat of a holy place, making a home for some of the most revolutionary works of art throughout all human history.
Beauty and art go hand in hand, and while it may seem shocking at first, the Louvre’s latest partnership with cosmetic giant, the L’Oréal Groupe, is not only timely but fitting too. Just today, the Louvre announced the unveiling of its latest journey through art: “‘De toutes beautés!’ Rituals, objects and representations of beauty: A journey of discovery in the galleries of the Louvre Museum,” brought to life through a partnership with the L’Oréal Groupe.
De Toutes Beautés: An Immersive Exploration of Beauty Through Art, Space and Time
“De Toutes Beautés” translates to “Of All Beauties,” and perfectly encapsulates the meaning of the Louvre and L’Oréal’s ground-breaking partnership. Starting tomorrow, November 13, all Louvre visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the guided tour of “De Toutes Beautés,” which walks viewers through more than 100,000 years of art, examining and interacting with hand-picked pieces. These pieces represent the practices, rituals and canonized visions of beauty throughout history. The tour also comes with a virtual component, through which attendees can access a specially designed app that compliments the existing signage throughout the tour.
“At the heart of our purpose, ‘to create the beauty that moves the world,’ lies the desire to make beauty accessible to all, and tell the story of beauty’s diverse and enduring role since the dawn of time,” Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal Groupe explains. “This is what has driven us to explore new partnership opportunities and approaches. The Louvre was the obvious choice for this partnership, given the richness and diversity of its collections and its ability to shed light on even the most contemporary of questions.” Laurence des Cars, president and director of the Louvre Museum adds, “Together, we designed a journey that highlights the vast diversity of beauty across eras and cultures. Through this playful and accessible approach to the artworks, the Louvre affirms its role as a school of seeing, multiplying the paths of discovery to share its heritage ever more widely and generously.”
