While beauty enthusiasts and celebrities alike are quick to splurge on high-end makeup, there’s something irresistible about uncovering a budget-friendly gem. Lisa Loeb has a longtime favorite that proves just that. In a recent Strategist feature on the products she can’t live without, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter raved about Wet n Wild Mega Last Matte Lip Color ($3) in “Bare It All,” a universally flattering neutral pink.
“This was such a surprise because I like using a lot of different brands of makeup, from Lancôme to Mac,” the “Stay” hitmaker said about her love for the drugstore find. “But along the way, my friend Stephen Glickman was shooting a TV show and I was one of his guests. I showed up and the makeup artist had forgotten her professional kit at home, so she ran to the drugstore and bought a bunch of stuff, including this Wet n Wild lipstick. Now it’s actually one of my favorite lipsticks.
It’s a matte lipstick, which lasts really well,” she continued. “It creates the illusion of whatever lip shape you want to create and then if you want to add gloss or other things on top of that to change the color slightly—to make it more pink or more beige, for example—you can do that. It’s a great neutral color you can use underneath other lipsticks. And it’s a drugstore lipstick, so it’s very inexpensive.”
Beyond the product itself, Loeb finds a sense of calm in the act of restocking it. “It’s very relaxing for me to go to the drugstore,” she said. “That’s one of the things I do.
