Forget about popping pimples, squeezing out lip fillers is officially the Internet’s latest gross obsession. A recent video posted by UK-based cosmetic doctor and ESHO Clinics founder, Dr. Tijion Esho, has gone viral, and even though it’s truly horrifying to watch, we just couldn’t look away. The video shows the doctor treating a patient’s lip cyst that originated from a botched lip filler injection. In the post, Dr. Esho pushes the tip of a needle against the cyst to break the surface and then squeezes out the clear filler gel from the patient’s lip.

According to New York dermatologist Doris Day, MD, a lip cyst like this is most likely caused by superficial placement of the product, meaning the filler was injected too close to the surface of the skin. Fortunately, as seen in the video, this horrifying situation is treatable. “It can be erased by using hyaluronidase, or the doctor can manually extract the product,” explains Dr. Day.

While this is obviously an example of a worst-case scenario when it comes to lip fillers, it’s still a good reminder to always go to a board-certified doctor when booking your injectable appointment. As Dr. Day points out, this result occurs much less often when the procedure is performed by more experienced dermatologists, so be sure you do your research before blindly choosing a doctor.
