Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lawrence are the friendship duo we never knew we needed. Lawrence has always been very vocal about being a Kardashian-Jenner fan, but in a recent celeb on celeb discussion for Interview, the youngest Jenner and Lawrence bond over their experience becoming famous young and the seemingly endless plastic surgery rumors that come with that. While both are often probed about this topic by journalists, it’s nice to see the two have a candid conversation on their own terms.
Lawrence first asks Jenner how she learned how to contour her lips. “I think it started because I just wanted big, fat, juicy lips, and I just wanted that illusion that I had fuller lips,” says Jenner. She notes that no one taught her how to contour since, at that time, she wasn’t working with makeup artists yet.
“It’s incredible what makeup can do,” Lawrence says. “I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery,” says Lawrence noting plastic surgery rumors of her own that Jenner can relate to. “I’m like, ‘I didn’t have eye surgery. I’m doing makeup,’” says Lawrence. Jenner commends Lawrence, noting that she’s been looking amazing. “Well, apparently, I’ve had full plastic surgery,” she jokes in return. “No, I’ve been seeing the pictures. It doesn’t look like that,” confirms Jenner.
Although Jenner admits, “I did end up getting lip fillers,” she laments that people assume she’s gotten more done. “I’ll see before and after photos when I’m 12 years old versus 26, and my eyebrows are filled differently. I have contour on. I’m like, ‘How can you compare my 12-year-old face and say I’ve gotten my jaw shaved and eyelids removed?’ I’m like, ‘What are we talking about?’”
Lawrence notes she has had a similar experience since she has been in the spotlight since she was a teenager. “I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when I’m 19 to 30, and I’m like, ‘I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I’m aging,’” says Lawrence. “Everybody thought I had a nose job, and I’m like, ‘I’ve had the exact same nose. My cheeks got smaller. Thank you for bringing it up.’”
