But, with the upcoming release of his affordable and accessible skin-care line, Loved01, Legend is establishing himself as a force in the self-care industry too. In a recent interview with The Cut, Legend detailed his skin-care routine which includes $7 blackhead strips.
Explaining to The Cut how he was inspired to create a skin-care line that was both accessible and focused on individuals with melanated skin, Legend details how his journey with skin-care has come along way and how, nowadays, he and wife Chrissy Teigen often use their self-care rituals as time to connect with one another. In addition to using skin-care as a wellness practice, committing to eight hours of sleep nightly and drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, Legend keeps his skin looking and feeling good through his regime of tried-and-true skin-care products that range from high end to drugstore.
After washing his face and body with products from his debut line, Legend says he exfoliates his skin with Lancer’s Gentle Exfoliating Pads ($75) to help target hyperpigmentation. Next, for some extra hydration, Legend uses SK-II’s Pitera Facial Treatment Mask ($139), which he says he was put onto by Tiegen herself. He then uses the face and body oil from Loved01, which is packed with sunflower oil to deliver intense hydration.
In addition to his well-rounded daily routine, there is one aspect of skin care that Legend says he takes extra seriously: blackheads. The singer says he gets at least one to two facials a month which mainly focus on professional blackhead extraction. But, in between treatments, Legend relies on Bioré’s Original Deep Cleansing Pore Strips ($7). The brand’s strips are infused with witch hazel to help deeply cleanse and pull out impurities from the nose which which is often one of the most stubborn areas on the face when it comes to blackheads.
With his expertly curated skin-care routine and his at-home and in-office rituals for ensuring his skin is always at it’s best, its clear that John Legend is truly making his way into the world of self-care and wellness. His debut skin-care line, Loved01, launches this February and we can’t wait to see what this beloved star does next.
