Singer/actress/designer Jessica Simpson has teamed up with celebrity aesthetician Nerida Joy to launch a new, customizable line of beauty products, called BeautyMint, a sister project to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s StyleMint, which offers a similar customization for fashion.

Joy spoke with NewBeauty about the launch earlier this week and her excitement about working with Simpson and the powerhouse products. “I was really impressed with Jessica’s knowledge of skin,” Joy said. “It’s fun to work with someone who’s so passionate about it.”

The product website leads visitors through a series of questions developed by Joy to determine their skin type and condition and recommends appropriate products. Questions ranged from “how concerned are you about the skin on your neck?” to “how oily is your skin at the end of the day?” to “what’s your stress level.” “We want to determine what type of skin you have, where it is now and where it can go from here,” Joy said. The hope is to eliminate the confusion, guesswork and wasted money and direct women to a more simplified routine with products that will work for them.

After more than 30 years in the business, Joy says she’s not easily impressed with products, but she worked with two chemists and a scientist whom she’s collaborated with for years to create what she calls, “an extraordinary line.” She’s most impressed by the Ultra Replenishing Serum, with marine collagen, that provides hydration, reduces pore size and helps women to look five to eight years younger. “That’s what marine collagen is all about,” Joy said.

With Joy’s expertise and Simpson’s passion, these seems like a great collaboration and a big win for beauty.
