5 Indie Skin-Care Brands You’re About to See Everywhere featured image

Looking to amp-up your skin-care and makeup routine? Look no further than these five emerging indie brands, which we tried and tested at this year’s Indie360 Conference. Not only do they offer serious results, but they fill a gap in the beauty space we never knew was missing.

i-On by Dr. Xi

Coined as “the biggest scientific breakthrough in skin care since retinoids,” i-On’s line targets iron on the surface of the skin to address visible signs of menopausal aging and attack free radicals. As reported by subjects participating in a 42-day clinical study for the entire line, 90 percent of users reported firmer skin, 84 percent saw a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles on the face and 77 percent saw a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. A few of the brand’s hero products: Age Disrupting Skin Cream ($125), which claims to prevent skin damage caused by blue light and UV rays, Age Disrupting Total Performance Eye Cream ($80), which claims to reduce the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles and Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser ($48), a one-stop-shop for purified skin.

HighOnLove

Bring your love life to a whole new level with HighOnLove’s line of hemp seed oil sexual wellness and intimacy products, which includes libido-boosters like Stimulating Sensual Oil ($55), designed to combat vaginal dryness and discomfort, and Sensual Massage Candle ($50), a bedroom must-have that not only sets the mood in your space, but also transforms into a warm, relaxing body oil. What we love most about this brand is that all of its ingredients are vegan, cruelty-free and safe for use between-the-sheets.

Sunrise Session by nohbo

Take a look in your bathroom cabinet and shower and count how many plastic bottles you see. Starting to add up? Look no further than Sunrise Session’s line of plastic waste-free self-care products. Founded by 22-year-old Ben Stern who found inspiration from dishwasher pods, he set out to create nohbo, a science-forward company that uses water soluble materials to encapsulate products. From there, Sunrise Session was made, and it takes your bathroom regulars—think conditioner, shampoo and hand soap—and turns them sustainable, without slacking on quality.

Lamik

When founder Kim Roxie started Lamik, her goal was to create a line of products that ditched the harmful ingredients in products she was using as a makeup artist. Today, the makeup artist-turned-founder not only sells her ever-popular brow products like Revelation Brow Duo ($49) and Clear Brow Gel ($21), but she has also created a custom foundation that fits any skin tone, a high-shine and long-wearing lip gloss and a bright and summery blush trio.

Dr. Lili Fan

A biochemist, microbiologist and practicing ophthalmologist, Dr. Lili Fan has created a vegan, probiotic-forward line that offers a punch of results. Using rice to create a pharmaceutical-grade probiotic, Dr. Fan’s line claims to protect the skin from enemy bacteria that causes blemishes, spots and other skin issues that accelerate premature signs of aging. She also has a line of eye-focused products, like Probiotic X Lash Enhancer ($68), which helps provide length and volume to the lashes within four to 12 weeks.
