When it comes to beauty, makeup artist and brand founder Huda Kattan is a wealth of knowledge, so when she drops her nighttime skin-care routine, we’re all ears.
According to Self, Kattan starts her lineup with a product from her own line, Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm ($35) and follows up with Tatcha The Deep Cleanse ($39) to thoroughly take the day off. “The second cleanse does a great job of really removing impurities from your skin,” she says.
Kattan says that the most important step in her nighttime skin-care routine is to exfoliate. “It is amazing for evening out your skin texture and brightening. Making a mental note to exfoliate two to three times a week can actually improve the health of your skin.” Her reliable go-to: Wishful Yo Glow AHA & BHA Facial Enzyme Scrub ($39). She also opts for Bioeffect EGF Enhancing Facial Essence ($99) and an at-home microneedling device to boost collagen production and slough off dead skin cells. To finish everything off, it’s a serum and moisturizer, both from Wishful.
Also in her pre-bedtime routine is a layer of Lucas’ Papaw Ointment ($18), which she applies to dry areas like her elbows, knees and feet. “I also have a silk pillowcase that I sleep with every night,” she says. “Silk pillowcases are so much better than normal cotton ones, which can absorb all of the skin-care that you’ve just spent time putting onto your skin, and which can create friction on your hair, causing breakage.” Now, it’s time to unwind, listen to a podcast or two and spend quality time with her daughter.
