Huda Kattan Just Told Us Her 2017 Beauty Predictions

Huda Kattan Just Told Us Her 2017 Beauty Predictions featured image

Makeup, artist, blogger, vlogger, social media maven and savvy entrepreneur Huda Kattan knows a thing or two about beauty. The Dubai-based guru started a beauty blog in 2010; since then, she’s taken social media by storm with Huda Beauty—the top beauty Instagram account in the world with more than 15 million followers—and has an equally popular best-selling beauty line at Sephora that’s smashed numerous records. She recently sat down with us to dish on everything beauty-related she thinks we’ll see in 2017, and some stuff she hopes will just fade away.

On the Way In

“I feel like people are going to find ways to wear makeup more naturally. We will start seeing a lot of harsh lines disappear, those hardcore cut creases, really bold liner, lips that are overly defined— those styles are going to fade away. Even though people may be wearing lot of makeup, we are going towards a very blended contour and very blended liners. Even if there is a cut crease, we will sometimes see a lighter color being used to blend out the cut crease, instead of black more metallic silver or gold to create a more dewy, glowy and more natural look.”

Already on the Way Out

“I think we will see those harsh lines go away, over-the-top eyebrows that are too defined, liners that are too defined. People are going to gravitate toward looks that are more soft, like fluffy lashes. Dramatic lips are going to start to exit and be seen as so last year. We will still have shadow, but it may be an all-over matte with a pop of shimmer, instead of it being crazy over-the-top, ‘I am super glam going to an after party with a very glam look.’ It will be more of a care-free, ‘I woke up like this’ kind of beauty.”

What She Wishes Would Fade Away

“That’s hard! I have an issue with brows—a lot of the brows I see on the internet are too much. I think it comes down to preference, but personally I don’t like brows that are too defined. I love symmetry, softer, bushy brows.”

What She Wishes We Would See More of

“I get really inspired by color. Rose gold was a major color this year that we saw on hair, nails, the face. I like those dramatic looks and wouldn’t mind seeing more of that!”
