From tiger eye to glow in the dark, this season has been full of new and creative hair color trends. And now there’s a new one to add to the list—two-toned hair.
Reddit user moniquey shared a gif of her flipping her hair from one side to another. Starting with her part on the right, her hair looks a shiny teal-blue, and then when she flips it over, her hair turns completely pink.

And the internet is loving it. “What kind of sorceryis this?!?” commented one user. “This is the coolest hair I have ever seen. You win life! I wish I could have your hair!” commented another.
We talked with Color Director and Balayage Expert at Julien Farel Restore Salon and Spa Abby Haliti to get her expertise on exactly how women can achieve this bold but beautiful look. Apparently it’s all about creating an intense coloring contrast. “You create a very clean middle part and get the hair to pale yellow,” explains Haliti. “Then add a pastel tone of two different shades that compliments but at the same time gives a good contrast.” And she notes that this should only be done by a professional, “because of the details and maintenance it requires.”

This isn’t the first time we saw this. Back in July, another Reddit user showed off this split color effect with blonde and black. And we’re hoping this isn’t the last we see of it. Though we understand there’s a lot of color trends to choose from.
