The always-fashionable first lady Michelle Obama celebrated her birthday last week and enjoyed a special dinner out in Georgetown with President Obama. Now only one year away from the big 5-0, the first lady is looking better than ever. Mrs. Obama debuted a new look on her birthday, perfect timing before inaugural festivities get under way. Her blunt textured bangs couldn’t be any more on point for this season. So we asked celebrity hairstylist George Gonzalez of George the salon Chicago how we can get the first lady’s cut.
“Michelle Obama’s new bang is texturized which gives a softer piece-y edge to the normal blunt style,” reveals Gonzales. “To achieve, ask your stylist to chip in with the tips of their shears followed by using texturizing scissors to soften the initial cut to finish. Hair types that are very coarse, thick and curly will have a harder time pulling this look off unless you want to take the time to use a blow dryer and flat iron to style. Ideally, straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new ‘Obama Bang’.”
