When we judge shampoos and conditioners for their effectiveness, we often assess their glory based on how they make the ends of our hair feel. Dry and brittle is bad. Soft and luxurious is good. However, what if this isn’t the best or most scientific way to evaluate how well a product actually works to improve the health of our hair?
Unilever, the megabrand behind Suave, TRESemmé and Nexxus, along with their new supermodel spokeswoman Heidi Klum, want us to change the conventional way we think about our strands. With the launch of their new hair-care brand, Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy-a collection of nourishing shampoos and conditioners-they aim to turn attention away from the ends of the hair and focus where it starts since “99 percent of the hair’s natural strength and beauty comes from the scalp,” says the brand.
“I love the way [it] makes my hair look and feel,” says Klum. “It’s a revolutionary new approach in caring for your hair-feed the scalp-it makes sense to me.”
So what is “feeding the scalp? A combination of vitamins and nutrients called Nutrium 10, which will create a stronger foundation for healthier hair,” says the brand’s hair-care expert Jen Atkin.
