Healthier hair is one of the most sought after commodities, but for many, it can be hard to achieve for a variety of reasons. With the amount of hair products on the market, it can be difficult to decipher what works or even if making the splurge on a treatment is worth it. But, if you’re looking for healthier hair without breaking the bank, these are the two rules Zendaya’s hairstylist says are the key to nourished strands.

Healthier hair starts in the shower

Though it may sound overly simple, Zendaya’s hair stylist, Kim Kimble, says that her first rule for ensuring healthier hair is to always keep it clean. “You’ve got to wash your hair and use the right shampoos and conditioners for your head,” she told E!, “If you don’t condition your hair, it’s going to get dry and brittle,” she continues, “Using the correct products that are not going to cause breakage or overprocess your hair—you’ve got to do these things. They’re basic, but they are important.”

Hair health from the inside out

Kimble’s second non-negotiable rule for healthy hair is equally as simple and important: “You’ve got to eat healthy and exercise because it stimulates hair growth.” The hairstylist to the stars explains that a balanced diet is the key to keeping your tresses as healthy as possible.

With so many markets becoming so saturated, it can be easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of products that promise to nourish the hair. But, Kimble’s two tips for hair health prove that the secret to revitalizing your strands is truly no purchase necessary.
