Halsey has been keeping us up-to-date with their experience as a first-time parent, and the singer’s most recent photo gave us an unfiltered, raw look at their postpartum body.
On Sunday, Halsey posted a slideshow on Instagram, which featured a photo of baby Ender’s rainbow-themed room, an up-close picture of their boyfriend Alev Aydin enjoying his time with his newborn and a picture of their stretchmarks with caption “Well….this is what it look like.”
Just a few days before the 26-year-old gave birth to their son, they posted a photo of their upcoming album cover. “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” they wrote in their caption. “It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months…This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired. We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!”
In the comments section, fans wrote kind words supporting the endeavor. “So powerful & breathtaking,” wrote professional wrestler Kylie Rae. Singer Rhinana and actress Sydney Sweeney also chimed in, saying “WOW!” and “Queen.” With this kind of support from a range of celebrities, we are well on our way to normalizing the journey of becoming a mother and accepting postpartum bodies.
