When it comes to hair health, there tends to be a list of usual suspects that impact our struggling strands. Whether it be excessive heat styling, too many dye jobs or drying styling products, we typically look inside our routine to nail down the root of our hair struggles.

Have you ever considered that your hair issues could be caused by the environment around you? According to a recent survey by Goldie, you should.

The Top 10 Worst Cities for Hair Health

To determine how healthy hair differs from city to city, Goldie’s survey assessed environmental conditions known to affect hair, like wind speed, humidity, UV index and water hardness. Then, Goldie took the composite scores and estimated the likelihood of a bad hair day in each city. Unfortunately for all you Dolphins fans and native Floridians, Miami took the top spot as the worst city for healthy hair, with a composite score of 81.23.

Unsurprisingly, cities with warmer climates and harsher elements placed in the top 10. Following Miami was another Florida city, Tampa. The locations that followed Miami and Tampa included San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, Austin, TX, Houston, Fort Worth, TX, Oklahoma City and Jacksonville, FL. All these cities averaged scores of at least 50, meaning bad hair days are the norm in these locations.
