In case you missed it, Gracie Abrams took the stage at Madison Square Garden’s Jingle Ball on Friday, December 13—and, as expected, her performance was flawless. But while her vocals blew us away, it was her impossibly sleek bob that kept us talking. To uncover the secret behind her soft, shiny and frizz-free strands, NewBeauty caught up with celebrity hairstylist Bobby Eliot. As revealed in our conversation, the products behind Abrams’ hair were MONDAY’s first-ever styling product, Sleek Hold Hairspray (coming this January), teamed with the brand’s MOISTURE Leave-In Conditioner ($6). Ahead, the pro shares more about the soon-to-launch hairspray we all need, whether the bob trend will continue its reign in 2025 and more.
How do you apply this hairspray for best results? Any specific techniques?
The hairspray is so versatile and workable. It’s the perfect dry formula that does not flake at all! I love using it as a finishing touch to tame flyaways and give the hair a glossy finish. I love spraying it onto a brush then applying it to flyaways.
Is Abrams’ latest look proof that the bob will continue to dominate in 2025?
I definitely think bob-length hair is here to stay for the new year. It’s just so chic and cool! Another version I love is [the bob] with a cool wispy French fringe. Soft and split in the center, cheekbone length, longer on the sides, is always timeless. Think Jane Birkin fringe.
I noticed Abrams rocked a center part at one point of the night and a side part another. Which will have a bigger moment in 2025?
I think both center parts and side parts are both so chic. Center part will never go out of style! I think you should play with different parts! Have fun! That’s the beauty of it; there’s no rules.
