Pretty soon we will be ushering in the official start of bathing suit season. To help you gear up to strip down, we’ve compiled a list of foods to help you fight the battle of the bulge. All of these tasty treats have a hidden superpower: they combat cellulite. So stock up and get ready to enjoy a little fun in the sun (without worrying about unsightly dimples).
Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of vitamin E, potassium and zinc, but it’s their vitamin B6 that really works its magic on cellulite. The key ingredient metabolizes proteins and repairs tissue, plus it’s a diuretic, so it cuts down on bloating that makes cellulite more visible.
Berries
Blackberries and blueberries boost collagen production, which creates new skin tissue and improves its tone and texture. They are also packed with antioxidants, which help break down the fat that’s attached to connective tissue, and, in turn, help to keep fat from pushing forward to create the lumpy appearance that becomes cellulite.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This natural way to flush out toxins (it happens to taste great in salad dressing) relieves water retention around the thighs and stomach, resulting in reduced bloating and cellulite. And, by flushing out the toxins, you’re detoxing your liver and rebalancing estrogen production, both of which can help reduce cellulite.
Chili Peppers
These red-hot little guys can help you score a red-hot body: They have been shown to boost metabolism by up to 25 percent for a period of time after eating them, which improves blood flow, flushing out toxins and reducing fat deposits in the connective tissue to lessen lumps and bumps.
Hummus
As a low-glycemic food, the body uses hummus for energy rather than holding onto it, which results in smaller fat cells, a decreased appearance of lumps and bumps and overall cellulite reduction.
Kelp
Rich in fucoxanthin (the compound found in green plants), kelp actually helps the body burn fat. In fact, it’s been shown that eating kelp can facilitate weight loss, and as a result, reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Salmon
Not only do the omega-3 fatty acids in this super fish help to curb your appetite and strengthen skin tissue, but salmon is also full of antioxidants, which break down the fat cells in cellulite. Nice catch, indeed!
