As a self-proclaimed faux-tanning addict, I’m always searching for the newest product that will make me look like a bronze goddess without melting away in the sun. Welcome Hydra Bronze ($36) by French skin-care expert Guinot.
Aware that most self-tanners are despised for their sticky lotions, Guinot prides Hydra Bronze on its light and moisturizing consistency that leaves your pale, thirsty skin tanned and quenched. Think it can’t get any better? The cream itself is white, so there won’t be any traces of self-tanner on your sheets or clothes.
While I’m typically not a fan of gradual tanners, (I’d much rather look six shades darker the hour after I apply it), Hydra Bronze may prove to be my only exception. I love that it can be used on the body and face, plus its moisturizing qualities really set it apart from other self-tanners I’ve tried.
My advice: Be sure to exfoliate your skin before using this lotion, which should be applied two or three times a week until you’ve reached a glow you’re excited about. You should notice the tone of your skin darkening after three days with peak color appearing after about two weeks. Just make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before and after—and watch out for your eyebrows and hair roots. Happy tanning!
