Not everyone likes face oils, and we understand that. If you’re in that camp, maybe you tried one once that was super greasy, and said never again. Or, you tried one that was comedogenic, meaning it can clog pores, and that didn’t end well. Either way, we encourage you not to give up hope completely. Face oils are often loaded with super concentrated, nutrient-rich ingredients that give skin the prettiest glow. It’s that healthy, lit-from-within, “I’m really happy” glow. That’s the case with Erborian’s Skin Therapy Multi-Perfecting Night Oil-Serum. Here’s what makes it so good.
The Benefits of This Face Oil
During our 2024 Beauty Awards testing, the other editors and I could not stop raving about this face oil. A few of us wouldn’t consider ourselves “face oil people,” and even then, it was a hit. One editor is our resident face oil guru, and she was also wowed. Add all that up and you’ve got a winner. So what makes it so good? It’s super nourishing, it tackles multiple concerns and it isn’t greasy. My skin just drinks it right up and then feels really smooth.
The formula is dual-phase, meaning there is an aqueous layer and an oil layer. This is why the brand calls it an oil-serum versus an oil alone. The aqueous layer—or serum—is infused with 22 efficacious ingredients, and the oil layer is meant to improve the absorption of those ingredients. See the full list of 17 supercharged ingredients below. The other five are considered “add-ons,” but also significant. Polyhydroxy acid provides gentle and mild exfoliation, hyaluronic acid hydrates, bisabolol soothes and squalane moisturizes. Zinc is in the mix as well to help improve skin quality.
Together, these ingredients target seven key skin concerns. They improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as provide a plumping effect. They also create a smoother skin texture and a brighter, more even-toned complexion. The oil-serum deeply nourishes skin, too, leaving it noticeably suppler. In a consumer test, 90 percent of participants said their fine lines were visibly reduced or smoothed after 14 days of use. After 28 days, 95 percent of people said they felt happier looking at their bare skin in the mirror.
Key Ingredients
Red pepper, yuzu, bamboo, white and red ginseng, wild yam, kigelia, horsetail, licorice, ophiopogon japonicus, polygonatum officinale, scrophularia nodosa, centella asiatica, Japanese knotweed, skullcap, chamomile, green tea and rosemary
How to Use It
Shake the bottle before each use to mix the ingredients. Then empty the pipette fully into your hands. The brand suggests warming the oil up in your palms before application. I like to dispense the pipette onto my fingertips rather than my palms and then rub them together. I feel like I get more product on my skin when I use my fingertips versus my palms. Apply it before your night cream, or instead of your night cream, depending on how much moisture your skin needs.
