Emilia Clarke has been busy since we said goodbye to Game of Thrones. She’s starred in her first romantic comedy Last Christmas; launched SameYou, a charity close to her heart designed for young adults recovering from brain injuries; and most recently, she’s landed the major gig as the first Global Brand Ambassador of Skin Care and Makeup for Clinique, announced today.
The announcement coincides with the refresh of CliniqueID, the brand’s choose-your-own-base range of hydrators to perfectly mesh with your skin. Now, the brand is introducing a new base: Moisturizing BB-Gel. According to the brand, Clarke’s iD formulation includes the new BB-Gel hydration base + Fatigue active cartridge.
The partnership was equal parts strategic and organic for the brand. “We didn’t go with a model, we went with somebody with a human personality,” Elizabeth Nolan, senior vice president, global creative director at Clinique, told WWD. “She’s got such a human, emotional, real authenticity to her. She’s funny, she’s honest, she hasn’t shied away from being herself. That sums up the Clinique consumer as well.” Clinique’s global brand president Jane Lauder adds: “We were drawn to Emilia because she is optimistic, happy in her skin, and embodies a modern multi-faceted woman who is constantly evolving along with her skin-care needs.”
“I am so proud to join Clinique as the new Global Brand Ambassador,” Clarke said in a statement. “It is a skin-care brand I have regularly used and to now be part of that family is such an honor. I love the confidence and happiness it brings to the people using their products. Not only is Clinique timeless, but I’m proud to work with a brand that makes people feel included for who they are, and unapologetic about helping them to create great skin—no matter what their skin concern is.”
