When we think of ways to improve our skin, our mind tends to think of innovative products, in-office treatments and even lifestyle changes. But, have you ever considered that where you’re living could be the cause of your skin woes? According to a new study published by LOOKFANTASTIC, this U.S. city has the best skin, and it might just be prompting residents to consider a move.
The Cities With the Best Skin, According to Data
Determining which cities are the best for your skin is no small feat. To get the most accurate readings, LOOKFANTASTIC “analysed various metrics that impact skin health which could accelerate the aging process, examining factors such as quality of life and noise levels, beauty sleep and stress management” in addition to considering “drinking habits, UV and sunlight levels, as these environmental and lifestyle factors significantly impact skin health.” With all that in mind, Sterling Heights, Michigan and Anchorage, Alaska tied for the top spot as the cities where your individuals will age the slowest.
“Sterling Heights has an extremely high quiet area score, which means residents can get lots of beauty sleep, helping to slow down signs of aging,” the study explains. “The city has 1,901 sunlight hours and a low average UV index of 2.92 throughout the year, which means residents can enjoy the sun without the harsh effects of UV radiation.” On the other end of the spectrum, eight of the top 10 cities where skin ages the fastest fell in California, with Oxnard taking the top spot.
“Oxnard, California, stands out as a city where the signs of aging may appear more rapidly with the lowest overall score of 47.4 out of 100,” LOOKFANTATSTIC finds. “A livability score of just 52 indicates a lower quality of life that can contribute to higher stress. Stress is known to accelerate aging and negatively impact skin health.”
