Last night’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show delivered plenty of iconic moments: Tyra Banks’ return to the runway after 19 years, Kate Moss’ surprise catwalk appearance, and Tyla’s Y2K-inspired bejeweled nails, to name a few. But perhaps the most unforgettable moment came when Cher graced the pink carpet, surprising everyone with lived-in blonde beachy waves that instantly transported us back to the early 2000s.

Cher’s blonde hair featured soft, dimensional tones with the perfect mix of darker roots, lowlights, and face-framing highlights. But while she made a statement with her blonde waves paired with an edgy black ensemble from The Attico’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection, she had different plans for her runway performance. When Cher hit the stage, she returned to her signature dark strands, leaving us all wondering—which one was the wig?

Naturally, Cher’s dramatic hair color switch-up sparked a buzz on social media. Plenty of people took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their shock and excitement about her going blonde for the show. “CHER IS BLONDE!!!!!!!!!” many tweets exclaimed, in various forms. Others, however, weren’t as enthusiastic. “I need Cher to remove that blonde and go back to black hair,” one person wrote. Another was equally surprised when she switched back: “Okay Cher with the iconic black hair—thought she was gonna keep the blonde all night.”

Blonde or black, one thing’s for sure: Cher always knows how to keep us guessing—and talking.
