Camila Mendes has had no shortage of roles in recent years that showcase her versatility as an actress, but one thing that’s remained consistent is her hair color. The 30-year-old’s signature dark brown hair has practically become synonymous with her—until now. As revealed on the Riverdale alum’s Instagram grid, she’s officially a redhead.
Mendes shared a series of selfies debuting her new color, a rich coppery-red styled in loose waves and parted down the center. “Just a newly minted redhead with a flight delay and an empty bathroom all to herself @colorbymattrez 🩸,” shouting out celebrity hairstylist Matt Rez for the transformation.
Fans quickly flocked to the comments to draw comparisons to her friend and Riverdale costar Madelaine Petsch, a natural redhead whose hair color was an iconic talking point on the CW show. “Cheryl blossom has some competition,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Embracing that Cheryl Blossom vibe.”
However, it turns out her new red hair isn’t inspired by Petsch or her former Riverdale role. Instead, it’s likely for her upcoming role as Teela in Amazon’s live-action Masters of the Universe, in which she’s taking the lead. Check out the double-take-worthy hair color for yourself ahead.
