I remember the first time I tried Burberry makeup more than a decade ago. There was a beautiful eye shadow called Gold Trench with the brand’s signature plaid embossed in it. However, somewhere between then and now, the brand disappeared, to the dismay of its many fans. But today, Burberry Makeup is back in the United States, with a fresh, modern collection that is exclusive to Nordstrom.com. Beginning in March, you’ll also be able to find the products in Nordstrom stores. Here’s the inside scoop from the brand on all nine products.
“We are very excited to be relaunching this collection and bringing it back to the U.S. after quite some time,” says Shir Golan, marketing director for Burberry Fragrance & Makeup at Coty. “Burberry makeup is all about what Burberry is all about. It started with a revolutionary technology that reinvented the conquest of the outdoors back in the 1800s. That’s what Burberry stands for, and that’s what we’re bringing with the makeup as well. It’s really about taking the couture Britishness of the brand and the incredible, unique technology that the brand brought to outdoor wear and its iconic Trench, and putting them together in a skinification of makeup. Couture meets tech. This comes to life in all of our superior, lasting formulas. They all the include the trifecta of active wear, long-lasting wear and weather protection. This includes water-resistance, humidity and sweat resistance, antioxidants and anti-pollution.”
Complexion Essentials
The star of the collection is its complexion products, including the Beyond Radiance Primer, which is back by popular demand. “This is a tried-and-true, beloved product,” Golan says. “It not only used to be the number-one Burberry makeup product at Nordstrom back in the day, but it was also the number-one primer at Nordstrom.”
The Beyond Wear Perfecting Matte Foundation is also a standout and comes in 38 shades. “This beautiful formula includes 24-hour wear, instant mattifying and stay-true color,” says Golan. “It’s a softer matte finish that still leaves your skin hydrated and cared for. It’s vegan, lightweight, buildable and breathable.” There’s also a new Beyond Wear Perfecting Concealer that Golan says is a staff favorite, and a non-drying Beyond Wear Setting & Refining Powder. Both have 24-hour wear.
Eye + Lip Products
The lip products in the Burberry Makeup range include Brit Shine Lipstick, Kisses Lipstick Matte and Kisses Lipstick Satin. The Brit Shine Lipstick is new, and Golan describes it as a beautiful, glossy balm with six-hour wear. It comes in 15 shades and hydrates the lips for a plumping effect “without that tingling, peppery feel.”
Golan says the vegan, 18-hour-wear Beyond Volume Mascara was inspired by the trending “fanned effect” look. “It provides volume and length without clumping and smudging. It also includes a conditioning complex for your lashes, so it’s pretty much a two-in-one mascara and lash serum. It fortifies and densifies your lashes over time. The brush is very cool, too. Its concave shape has a spiral weave so it’s able to get to the shortest of lashes.” To round out any eye look, the Eye Quads were inspired by Burberry Trench coat shades with great color payoff and eight hours of wear. “More shades will come later, so stay tuned,” says Golan.
