There’s something so sexy about a smooth, matte black nail polish. And, we just can’t get enough of them. All the edge and attitude of a black shade becomes a little softer with matte polish. The only problem is that matte polish formulas can be rare. So, what’s a girl to do?
Go to NewBeauty for the scoop, of course.
Do matte polishes exist?
We know there are a ton of super hot matte nail styles. But when we look online or in our local Ulta or Sephora, we find rows of shiny colors and glittering chromes. Where are all the matte options?
You can also find a few “instant matte” tips online, from using cornstarch to gently buffing your polish. What’s incredible is that mixing nail polish with cornstarch does turn nails matte. But the chunky, bumpy mixing of polish and starch isn’t always fun. Plus, we’re more likely to buff our polish right off than get a perfect matte look.
While that might leave you frustrated, it doesn’t mean a matte mani is out of your reach.
Instead, you’ll need to turn to matte topcoats. These clear coverings mute the shininess of your regular lacquer or polish, resulting in a matte finish. With this additional step, you’ll achieve the muted matte look of your dreams and gain polish protection that can extend your manicure.
